The Visiting Nurse Association, based in Vermont, had been struggling to dampen the noise caused by a large outdoor generator which was approximately 20 years old.
The generator was producing a level of noise which was creating a disturbance for the neighbourhood – measured at 14 decibels over the maximum legal limit at the property line.
Facility managers had previously sought out sound reduction methods but none were sufficient or cost-effective in reducing this type and level of noise.
They heard about the Echo Barrier H2 barrier and after installing them around the generator, the sound escaping into the neighbourhood was immediately reduced to a level of below 70 decibels.
Christine Hammond, Facilities Support Specialist for the Visiting Nurse Association, stated, “Echo Barrier has been incredibly helpful in coming up with a sensible solution. The barriers are easy to install, aesthetically pleasing and effective. The community is grateful for the peace and quiet that the Echo Barriers have restored to the neighbourhood.”
The Visiting Nurse Association holds a strong dedication to their community, the environment and their employees, and the board has since approved the purchase of more units.
Peter Wilson, Technical Director at Echo Barrier, added: “Noise from older power equipment is a very common and serious problem for commercial properties. Replacing these generators that still run effectively can be unnecessary and expensive, yet the noise from them can cause unacceptable conditions, such as a decrease in worker productivity, negative health effects, and community aggravation. We are proud to have eliminated the burden of noise pollution for the Visiting Nurse Association.”
Echo Barriers are a sound mitigation system that absorbs noise, rather than reflect it back to the source, providing an immediate and lasting solution. The barriers are rugged, weather resistant, lightweight and flexible, making noise management simple, fast and highly effective for temporary or permanent use.
