We were delighted to see a range of our barriers featured in the BBC Two documentary series The fifteen billion pound railway, which aired for the first time on 16 th July.
This three part documentary series, which concludes this Wednesday (30 th July), has given viewers a behind the scenes look at Europe’s largest infrastructure project, as it constructs a new rail line through the heart of one of the world’s busiest cities.
Construction of the Crossrail project began at North Dock in Canary Wharf on 15 May 2009. Five years on, over 44 million hours have been worked on Europe’s largest construction project, with the project employing over 10,000 people across more than 40 worksites throughout London and the southeast.
Our barriers have played a part in London’s rail infrastructure projects for several years now, being a common sight at the likes of the Tottenham Court Road and Earls Court station works. We’re delighted that they have played such an important part in reducing any noise disruption in the Capital and so much so that the Crossrail project team also decided to put barriers in place during the noisy rail works.
On several occasions throughout the first two programmes Echo Barriers were prominently ‘snapped’ working hard to reduce noise at sites across the city. To co-incide with the BBC Two programme, over the coming weeks the Crossrail team will be taking and displaying a range of panoramic photos from different sites across the project.
