The company, market leaders in noise reduction barriers for construction sites, rail maintenance and events have seen demand for their products rise in the last year, thanks to the recovery of the construction sector, and the growing understanding of the dangers of noise on both health and community relations, as well as on site operating times.
The first overseas market they targeted was Australia in early 2012, where the brand became an instant hit, being used on projects such as the Sydney suburban rail network maintenance works. A US office followed, thanks to a deal with distributor Acoustical Instruments Inc.
Further offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong followed suit.
The most recent office, set up earlier this year is in Munich, Germany.
Technical director Peter Wilson said of the growth: “As the construction sector is emerging from a tough couple of years and spending is starting to increase, we are seeing more requirements for our product. However, as building work starts again, more organisations are starting to consider more the impact the works noise has on their local community, whether it is homeowners, commuters or workplaces. It is this, coupled with the bigger budgets available that means all of the big players have been in touch about noise attenuation.”
“Opening up offices and supplying our product overseas was a natural move for us, as the industry as a whole has the same issues when it comes to noise pollution. We are thrilled at the level of interest we have seen in the barriers overseas, and our plan is to open up as many offices and increase distributors worldwide as possible.”
Talks are in progress to set up bases in the Netherlands, Spain and Russia in 2014. Other countries in which Echo Barrier trades are New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, the UK, India, Switzerland and Slovakia.
Echo barriers not only offer a reduction in noise from loud work sites, but they can reduce the amount of dust and debris escaping on to the street, and offer a high level of health protection for employees in terms of reducing exposure to a level of noise which can damage the ear. Barriers can also be designed to include the logo and branding of the company using them.
Echo barrier systems make noise management simple, fast and highly effective. Barriers are flexible, provide exceptional acoustic performance and are easy to store, transport and fit. They were recently recognised by the Institute of Acoustics and Noise Abatement Society at their annual awards.
