Festival goers raise a glass to Echo Barrier for saving ale weekend

Over the weekend of 11-13 July the Sandwich Folk & Ale festival was taking place, resulting in the nearby Sandwich Leisure Caravan Park being full of guests who had travelled to the area to enjoy a weekend of live music, real ale and local crafts and food.

However, Network Rail had also announced a series of overnight engineering works to take place over the same weekend, resulting in unwanted noise on the doorstep of the caravan park.
Guests at the Caravan Park were angry that the works project had been scheduled on the weekend of the festival and contacted Network Rail to see if there was anything that could be done. Luckily, Daren Smith from Network Rail had heard about Echo Barrier, and so contacted the team to see whether they could be installed immediately.
He said: “We found the use of these noise barriers to be very well received by both the staff who had to prepare the area and the residents who would have been affected by the noise that accompanies such track renewals works. “They also had the added benefit of providing a visual barrier between the working staff and the locals which also helped diffuse any direct contact between disgruntled neighbours and our staff. “Turn around between initial enquiry and installation was extremely rapid, in less that a week we had secured sufficient to cover the 300m required.”

A representative from Echo Barrier added: “We were delighted to assist Daren and the Network Rail team in helping reduce the noise the guests staying at the caravan park would experience over the weekend of the festival. “Our barriers are a simple solution to problems such as noise which could affect local residents throughout the duration of a rail or construction project and we were thrilled to hear from Daren that he’d be recommending them for use on other Network Rail projects going forward.”
