Stowmarket residents enjoy peace and quiet during noisy rail works

Echo Barrier, which has its HQ in Sudbury, has undergone a huge period of international growth, having seen their barriers used in the London 2012 Olympic Games, as part of the maintenance works on the Sydney rail network and providing noise attenuation solutions to the World Trade Centre re-build in New York.

But when Spence Ltd needed to put in place measures to manage intrusive noise pollution throughout the duration of the project at Stowmarket Train Station, they knew exactly who to call. The project being undertaken by Spence Ltd was to carry our re-wiring and relighting of the building and to the car park at the train station.

As most of the work would take place outside normal sociable hours, they had to put in place measures to minimize disruption to local residents.

Kenny West from Spence Ltd, who project managed the works said: “As a company we do everything we can to reduce the impact we have on our local environment. Working with Echo Barrier has helped us to build a better relationship with local residents and help to reduce the noise level during construction.”

He continued: “The local Stowmarket community can see that we are putting measures in place to consider their welfare, and this seems to have increased people’s tolerance levels throughout the duration of the works.”

Peter Wilson, Technical Director at Echo Barrier added: “Echo Barriers provide a cost effective, easy to install and aesthetically pleasing way to reduce intrusive noise pollution from construction sites. The impact that noisy works can have on a community is becoming much more of a consideration to contractors and the Echo Barrier range provides the perfect solution.”

Echo Barrier systems make noise management simple, fast and highly effective. Barriers are flexible, provide exceptional acoustic performance and are easy to store, transport and fit. They were recently recognised by the Institute of Acoustics and Noise Abatement Society at their annual awards. For more information about Echo Barrier visit  www.echobarrier.com.
