They have made the final two in the John Connell Noise Abatement Society awards in the category of ‘Silent Approach’ and will find out whether they are winners at an event at the House of Commons on Wednesday 5 th November.
The company, who are based in Sudbury, have revolutionised the noise reduction market and have enjoyed a fantastic year, with their innovative barriers being used on sites across the globe including at the World Trade Centre in New York and on the London Underground. Within the industry the awards have dubbed the ‘Noise Oscars’, and they aim to celebrate businesses showcasing best practice within the industry and making a positive impact on the reduction of excessive noise in the community.

Peter Wilson, technical director from Echo Barrier who collected the award said: “We are very proud to have been shortlisted for this award and importantly, having been recognised for the work we have undertaken in the field of noise reduction. Our teams have worked hard both here in the UK and abroad to spread the message about the importance of reducing the impacts of noise and we will keep pushing the message and improving our product offering.”
The H20 Acoustic enclosure, on behalf of which the entry was submitted, is an innovative new product to the market which makes noise reduction inside buildings possible. The tent has a construction time of just 15 minutes and is made up of a roof and walls structure which contains high performance acoustic material, stopping noise affecting the rest of a building by absorbing sound waves rather than reflecting them.

The Noise Abatement Society Awards are named in honour of the Society’s founder, John Connell OBE, who successfully lobbied the Noise Abatement Act through Parliament in 1960 when noise became a statutory nuisance for the first time in the UK.
Echo Barrier offers high tech, market leading solutions for controlling excessive noise. Their systems make noise management simple, fast and highly effective. Barriers are flexible, provide exceptional acoustic performance, are easy to store, transport and fit.
The commercial benefits of noise reduction are enormous, including extending site operating hours (and so reducing operational costs), minimising noise complaints, enhancing company reputation and providing for an improved working environment.
