Recognising the suburban landscape of the area, the contractor behind the work looked no further than Echo Barrier to assist with the site’s noise control. Residential buildings surrounding the site received letter drops and selected door knocks to notify locals of the works about to be carried out. As part of the project’s community engagement, Echo Barrier was presented as part of the solution to noisy works from the station rebuild. Serious with their noise, soil and air quality monitoring, all noise readings taken throughout the duration of the project met the project’s sound requirements of 75 decibels.

According to the contractor, this would have been difficult without the noise barriers in place. Decibels aside, the visibility of the barriers made an impression to the community by minimising noise issues. This included receiving the nod of approval from local council representatives.

The barriers, labelled as a Noise Control System, sets expectations to local residents, helping address negative responses. The proactive approach of the contractors shows how community concerns can be effectively managed.
