International Noise Awareness Day -- and the very fact this day is on the calendar says a lot about what communities think about the need for noise management.

The time to be seen as a leader on this issue is right now. Noise is progress Noise is unavoidable in modern life. We have to make noise to deliver the infrastructure and development our communities want and need. But noise is also annoying, so doing what we can to mitigate it is a significant responsibility.
A statement by Alex Greenwich, Independent Member for Sydney, highlights the growing concern about noise within the community. Mr Greenwich mentions how noise can affect quality of life and health, especially for residents living near major developments.
The residents are frustrated and are making their complaints heard, he says. Act first The best thing we can do for our businesses and our communities is take whatever measures we can to manage noise before it becomes a problem. Just as an absolute commitment to safety has become a requirement for councils and developers, so too will noise management become a ‘ticket to play’ in our industries.

Customers and communities will simply, and rightly, expect it. It’s more than good corporate citizenship to be on the front foot with noise management. It’s good business.

Get out there So on Noise Awareness Day, join me in reminding our communities that we care about noise, and we’re doing something about it.
